FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will asphalt last?
Asphalt laid on a solid foundation will last 15-20 years with normal maintenance.

How long will it take to pave my driveway?
Most driveways are completed in one day.

How long should I stay off new asphalt?
Roads can be driven on as soon as asphalt is compacted but it is better if its cures 2-3 days before parking overnight on it.

What is sealing?
Sealing is the process of applying a commercial-grade protective coating over the finished asphalt. The sealant seeps into minute holes in the asphalt, binds with the asphalt molecules, and protects it against weather and other destructive forces.

Sealing any paving surface is similar to “water proofing” a new wood deck or putting a protective rust inhibitor or polyethylene coating on outdoor furniture. In most instances, “sealing” is recommended following a period of curing for the asphalt. In some situations it can be applied immediately following compaction. Seal coat will protect and beautify your driveway. It is purely an option you may choose.

When should I seal my new asphalt?
Asphalt can be sealed with sealer after one year.

How often should I seal my asphalt?
Structurally sound pavement can last indefinitely if it is sealed every 2-3 years.

My existing asphalt has a lot of cracks, can it be fixed?
Yes, if it still has a solid foundation, but if there are soft areas, we will need to dig out and replace those areas and then resurface.

How late in the year can I get my job done?
